Shiva Lingams – sacred stones from the Narmada River in India

In India, rivers are symbolically assigned to the feminine energy. The stones made of clay and sandstone are shaped by the movement of the river and are collected from the river bed during dry periods. They are traditionally cleaned and polished.

The form is an expression of male energy, so the Shiva Lingam unites both energies and balances them.

The Indians assume that the holy river Narmada continuously sends out Prana – that is, life force and that this also affects the stones recovered from the river and one can feel the cleansing, healing effect.

The stones are each approx. 6 cm long and 2 cm wide.
